Post-Treatment Instructions
- Apply Aquaphor ointment as directed by the provider.
- After the healing is complete, a rich moisturizer or cream may be used.
- Please contact the office if you have excessive itching upon application of these products listed above.
- You may apply cool compresses immediately after treatment. Some patients report a “hot” feeling, which can last a few hours to a few days.
- You can gently wash the area with tepid water mixed with a small amount of white vinegar. Then immediately re-apply occlusive ointment or moisturizer.
- Vinegar soaks may be applied to calm the burning sensation and reduce the possibility of infection. Mix 1 tablespoon white vinegar with 1 pint of warm water. Wet a soft cloth or gauze and soak the treatment site for 15 minutes with the diluted vinegar solution.
- You may shower, but avoid hot water/steam on the treated area.
- Do not pick or aggressively scrub the skin. The skin will gently exfoliate during the washing process. Avoid mechanical exfoliation for 4 weeks.
- Sleeping with your head elevated on two pillows the first few nights can help minimize swelling.
- Avoid direct sun exposure. Wear a protective hat or visor the first 2 weeks while outdoors. Apply sunscreen when skin has healed.
- Mineral make-up may be used on day 2 or after skin is healed.
